What is chameleon tint?

Car window tint or film is typically made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET). This material is applied to the interior of car windows and allows certain types of light rays through while reflecting or absorbing others. Chameleon tint is a colour-changing tint which has coloured dye in the film. This dye is often of a purple, blue or green gradient and appears to change colour depending on the angle of light reflecting on it. Chameleon windscreen tint perfectly marries style with function to deliver aesthetically pleasing results that offer up to 99% UV protection.

Are chameleon tints legal in the UK?

Chameleon windscreen tint is completely legal to have on the windscreens of most vehicles if:

They allow more than 75% of light to enter the front windscreen.

They allow more than 70% of light to enter the side windows.

There are several reasons for this, but mainly it is to ensure that the windows can be seen out of, and so that the driver can be seen. Failure to adhere to the regulations could result in drivers receiving a ‘prohibition notice’. This will stop drivers from driving their vehicles until the extra tint is removed.

How is chameleon tint fitting done?

Our highly-skilled and experienced tinters can complete chameleon tint fitting within a day and follow a series of simple steps…

1

Preparation

Before bringing your vehicle to our premises, we recommend cleaning your car and removing anything from within. Upon arrival, we will clean the windows of any dirt or contaminants.
2

Prime

We will prep and prime your windows. Then we will use pre-cut templates to cut your chameleon tint, this avoids cutting on the car where possible.
3

Completion

The windows will look hazy and blotchy, and bubbles will begin to gather under the surface at first. This is normal; after 48-72 hours, the water under the tint will ‘clot’ together before evaporating.
4

Aftercare

We will clean with a microfibre cloth and glass cleaner. We value your satisfaction and undertake all our window tint installs in a controlled environment, in our clean and equipped premises.

What are the benefits of chameleon window tinting?

Improve the aesthetics of your vehicle

One of the top reasons why people add chameleon window tint to their vehicles is to improve the aesthetics. Delivering impressive results with a gradient purple, blue and green look, chameleon tints are incredibly popular.

Blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays

Car window tint is proven to block up to 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays. UV rays can damage eyesight, skin health and even your immune system, therefore window tinting is a great solution.

Temperature control

Window tints can keep your vehicle cool in the summer and warmer in the winter. As they reflect the sun’s rays, the amount of heat (in the form of light) entering your car can be reduced by up to 60%. Additionally, it stops heat from escaping in colder months.

Increased security

Tinting your car windows can go a long way in increasing the security of your vehicle. Cars often contain valuable possessions such as phones, Sat Navs and more. Tinted windows make it much more difficult to see inside your vehicle.

Reduces glare

Car window tinting is a great way of improving visibility and reducing glare when driving. This means that you can undertake journeys, safe in the knowledge that you will have full visibility along the way.
